In 2003, he was for one season at third division Zamora CF awarded. On his return he played again for Real Saragossa B. In the 2005/06 season , UE Lleida loaned him out for a year. Here he could not assert himself and was only used four times. Since he was only the third goalkeeper in Saragossa between 2006 and 2008, he left the club after relegation in 2008 to play for the second division promoted SD Huesca . In the 2008/09 season he was number two there behind Eduardo Navarro and was only used six times. After Navarro's departure he was the new number one at the beginning of the 2009/10 season , but had to vacate his place for Toni Doblas on matchday 13 and remained his deputy until the end of the season.

In the summer of 2010, he left Huesca and moved to league rival Albacete Balompié . There he was initially deputy of Keylor Navas , who later became Real Madrid goalkeeper . It was not until the end of the 2010/11 season , when Albacete was already relegated, that he was used more often. After Navas' departure, he was one league down to the new number one. He missed the promotion with his team in the play-offs. Martínez moved to league rival Deportivo Alavés . In a three-way battle with Iván Crespo and Urtzi Iturrioz Urkiza , he was used eleven times and rose to the Segunda División at the end of the 2012/13 season.

Martínez left the club and joined UD Logroñés , who played in Segunda División B. There he became a regular goalkeeper and has held this role for five years now. In the seasons 2014/15 and 2015/16 he missed promotion to the play-offs.
