Michael Anthony Amodeo (* 22. June 1952 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Italo - Canadian ice hockey player , who in the course of his active career including for the Ottawa Nationals , Toronto Toros and Winnipeg Jets in the World Hockey Association and National Hockey League played Has.
Career
Amodeo, who was initially active for the Toronto Marlboros in the Ontario Hockey Association , was transferred to the Niagara Falls Flyers in November 1970 in exchange for Paulin Bordeleau . For this, however, the Italian-Canadian completed only three games; the 1970/71 season ended the defensive player finally in their league rivals Oshawa Generals . After another season in the dress of the Oshawa Generals, the left shooter was selected by the California Golden Seals in the seventh round of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft in a total of 102nd position . A contract offer from the Californians rejected the defender, so he instead moved to the Ottawa Nationals in the competitive league World Hockey Association . They had previously selected him in the WHA General Player Draft . After relocating the franchise to his hometown Toronto, the defensive player acted for three more seasons in the jersey of the team now known as the Toronto Toros . Amodeo, who at times formed a defender pair with Carl Brewer , was considered one of the better defensive defenders in the league.
In 1976, Amodeo sued the Toronto Toros after they had paid off his ongoing contract. He then finished the 1975/76 season in the dress of the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League , before the Italian-Canadian moved to the Swedish first division club Örebro IK for two years for the following season . He then returned to the World Hockey Association, where he subsequently ran for the Winnipeg Jets . In 1978 the left-handed shooter won the Avco World Trophy with the team . In the following season Amodeo completed 64 WHA games in the regular season, but since he had no use in the finals, he was not part of the victorious Jets team in 1979. Another engagement followed in Sweden, before Amodeo ended his career from 1981 to 1983 in his Italian homeland at HC Meran .
