1972 NHL Amateur Draft

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The NHL Amateur Draft in 1972 , the annual talent contraction of the National Hockey League , was on 8 June 1972 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Canadian Montreal in the Province of Quebec instead.

A total of 152 players were drawn in eleven rounds. The top pick Billy Harris came to nearly 900 games in the NHL. He stayed with the New York Islanders for almost eight years and ran in all of the team's games from draft day to his move in 1979. Only two players from the first round did not make 200 games in the NHL. In the later rounds Bob Nystrom was one of the more successful players. Unlike Harris, he was still on the team during the Islanders' successes. From the sixth round, Peter McNab was still noticeable and was on the ice in over 950 NHL games.
