Career

In his youth, McNab played for the University of Denver . In the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft , he was selected by the Buffalo Sabers in the sixth round in a total of 85th position. He played one more year for Denver and was named to the WCHA All-Star Team in 1973 . The following year he made his professional debut for the Cincinnati Swords , the Sabers farm team , in the American Hockey League . In the same season he also celebrated his NHL debut for Buffalo.

After three seasons in Buffalo, the striker was transferred to Massachusetts to the Boston Bruins . He had his most successful phase in Boston, scoring at least 35 goals and 75 points in six consecutive seasons and was elected to the NHL All-Star Game in 1979. On December 23, 1979 there was a scandal in Madison Square Garden during the game against the New York Rangers , when McNab and other Bruins players climbed into the spectator stands and attacked the fans, some of whom were fleeing. Peter McNab got into a scuffle with a fan. His teammate Mike Milbury came to his aid, took off a shoe and beat him with his shoe. McNab and Milbury were banned from the NHL for six games each and fined $ 500 each.

During the 1983/84 season he was sent by the Bruins to his home with the Vancouver Canucks , where he stayed for barely a season and a half and at the beginning of the 1985/86 season signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils , where his father Max McNab at the time the general manager was. In 1986 he made his international debut at the World Cup in Moscow . The US national team reached sixth place in this tournament. After spending another year in New Jersey, Peter McNab ended his career.

Sports commentator

After his active career, McNab began his career as a commentator at the beginning of the 1987/88 season . After eight years as the so-called color commentator for the New Jersey Devils, he went to Denver in 1995 to comment on the games in the new Colorado Avalanche franchise . Besides, he also commented on TNT the Hockey Games of 1998 Winter Olympics and for NBC , the Games of 2006 . He also held during the Games in Salt Lake City for TSN own TV show.

On June 8, 2009, McNab extended his contract with Altitude , the owner of the broadcast rights for the games of the Colorado Avalanche.
