Ken Ireland (born January 2, 1952 in Rosetown , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Providence Reds in the American Hockey League during his active career .

Career

Ken Ireland played from 1969 to 1971 for the Estevan Bruins in the Western Hockey League . The 1971/72 season he spent with the New Westminster Bruins , where he got 71 points in 68 games. In the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft , he was selected by the New York Rangers in the sixth round at position 95. But he never made the leap into the National Hockey League and played in the 1972/73 season for the Providence Reds in the American Hockey League . There Ireland was used in 25 games and scored nine points. The next two years he went on the ice in the Central Hockey League for the Omaha Knights and Albuquerque Six-Guns .

Then followed in 1974/75 an engagement with the Long Island Cougars in the North American Hockey League . Ireland then played for the Roanoke Valley Rebels in the Southern Hockey League and Kimberley Dynamiters in the WIHL before ending his career early at the age of 26.
