from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The NHL Amateur Draft in 1970 , the annual talent contraction of the National Hockey League , was on 11 June 1970 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Canadian Montreal in the Province of Quebec instead.

A total of 114 players were drawn in 14 rounds, with only the St. Louis Blues exercising their right to draft from the tenth round . The top draft pick Gilbert Perreault was able to meet expectations and became the leading player in the Buffalo Sabers . But Toronto's first pick, Darryl Sittler , was also one of the draft's good choices. With Billy Smith , the goalkeeper was drawn in the fifth round, which would lead the New York Islanders to a series of Stanley Cup victories about ten years later .
