Rick George MacLeish (born January 3, 1950 in Cannington , Ontario - † May 30, 2016 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) was a Canadian ice hockey player (left winger) who played for the Philadelphia Flyers , Hartford Whalers , Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red from 1970 to 1984 Wings played in the National Hockey League .
Career
The 1.80 m tall left winger began his career in the OHA with the Peterborough Petes , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft as fourth in the first round by the Boston Bruins . Before he could complete his first NHL assignment, MacLeish switched to the Philadelphia Flyers .
From the 1970/71 season he was part of the Flyers squad, but in the first two years he still played frequently in farm teams with the Oklahoma City Blazers in the CHL and the Richmond Robins in the AHL . In 1974 and 1975 he won the Stanley Cup with the Flyers and was able to complete the playoffs as the best scorer in both years. After eleven years with the Flyers, the striker moved to the Hartford Whalers for the 1981/82 season , but after 34 games he moved again, this time to the Pittsburgh Penguins . The following year he played only six games for the Penguins and also appeared for a game at EHC Kloten in Switzerland. His final season, 1983/84 , he began again in Philadelphia, but moved again to the Detroit Red Wings before ending his career.
With 54 goals in 114 NHL play-off games, Rick MacLeish ranks fifth on the all-time NHL leaderboard in this category.
