Michael Terry Duke (* 1949 ) is an American manager and former CEO of the Wal-Mart group.

Career

Duke received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1971 . He then worked at Retail Industry Leaders Association and Arvest Bank, among others, before moving to Wal-Mart in 1995. Since February 1, 2009 he was CEO there. On November 25, 2013, Wal-Mart announced that Duke was stepping down in late January and that longtime CEO Doug McMillon would take his position.

According to Forbes' list of the most powerful people, Duke ranked 8th in 2009.

Private

Duke is married to Mary Susan Duke and lives in Rogers, Arkansas , USA. They have 3 children.

He supports Bill Clinton's Global Initiative in New York , a foundation to fight AIDS .

His proven annual income is $ 12,238,209 , according to Businessweek .
