Life

Jittlov was a math student at UCLA University , where he also took an animation course. With a Super 8 camera he shot the short film The Leap , which he later enlarged to 16mm format in order to take part in various film festivals in the early 1970s. His short film Good Grief was up for a nomination at the Oscars . He later bought his own 16mm camera and designed his own multiplan camera system .

Some of his short films such as Swing Shift , Animato or Time Tripper won awards and were repeatedly screened at film festivals, which brought him the attention of Walt Disney Studios . In 1978 his short film Mouse Mania was shown on the 2-hour Disney show Mickey's 50th . In this one sees Mickey Mouse marching around a psychiatrist's practice with another 1,000 Disney toys. This short film can also be seen on the Mickey Mouse DVD in Living Color Volume Two . Since the individual animators are not listed by name in the credits in Disney productions, Jittlov wrote his name and that of his partner, Deven Cheregino, on individual characters, where they could not be edited out in the final film.

His short film The Wizard of Speed and Time was shown in Disney's Special The Wonderful World of Disney , in which Jittlov plays a young man who runs across the United States in a green wizard's cape in time-lapse . In 1980 this was released with a new soundtrack on a 16 mm film, along with other of his short films.

Jittlov also created the introductory film that will be shown on American cable television on the Disney Channel . Here you can see a satellite shaped like Mickey Mouse's head. This film was later re-produced and can be seen on the DVD version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs . For some time this film was shown in the Space Mountain line in Disney Park. This also has a brief appearance in Jittlov's feature film Magic Movie .

Magic Movie is Jittlov's most famous work. The film was only shown in a few cinemas, but achieved cult status after its release on VHS and laser disc . Jittlov later worked as an effects technician on the feature film Ghost - Message from Sam . Jittlov usually disguises himself at science fiction events with his famous green magic cloak and green boots. He used the Internet very early on, has his own website and sporadically posts in his Usenet group alt.fan.mike-jittlov.
