Mike Schürmann (born August 25, 1972 in Bielefeld ; † February 8, 2019 ) was a German football player .
Career
The midfielder Schürmann began his career with the Bielefeld amateur club VfL Schildesche and joined the youth team of Arminia Bielefeld in 1986 . In 1992 he moved up to the squad of the first team that played in the third-class Oberliga Westfalen at the time. With the Bielefeld team in 1994, Schürmann qualified for the newly created Regionalliga West / Südwest . In the following two years he rose to the Bundesliga twice in a row with Arminia . Between 1994 and 1996 - no older data is available - he played at least 48 championship games for the Bielefeld team and scored one goal.
After promotion to the Bundesliga in 1996, Schürmann moved to the second division Rot-Weiss Essen , for whom he scored three goals in 19 games. After only one season he returned to East Westphalia and joined Essen's league rivals FC Gütersloh . For the Gütersloher Schürmann completed 28 second division games and scored two goals. In 1999 he was relegated with his club from the 2nd Bundesliga. In February 2000, the heavily indebted FC Gütersloh had to file for bankruptcy and was dissolved. Then Schürmann let his career end with the Bünder Verein Grün-Weiß Bustedt .
Schürmann died in February 2019 at the age of 46.
