Extraliga (Slovakia, chess) 2005/06

The 2005/06 Extraliga was the 14th season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .

Participating teams and mode

At the start were ŠK Liptov , ŠK HOFFER Komárno , ŠK Slovan Bratislava , sachy.sk Košice (in the previous year under the name ŠK Hydina Košice ), ŠK Zentiva Hlohovec , ŠK Bašta Nové Zámky , ŠKŠ Dubnica , ŠO TJ Slávia UPJŠ Košice and ŠK Slávia SPU Nitra were the first nine of the 2004/05 Extraliga , and ŠK Modra , TJ Slávia CAISSA Čadca and ŠK Senica were promoted from the 1st division. The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards.The number of team points (three points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a Winning game, half a point for a draw game, no point for a losing game). The last two were relegated and replaced by the winners of both seasons of the 1st league.

Events

The competitions took place on October 8 and 9, November 12 and 13, December 10 and 11, 2005, January 8, 28 and 29, and February 18 and 19, 2006.

Season course

The ŠK HOFFER Komárno was in a class of its own and was already the champion with two laps to go. The ŠO TJ Slávia UPJŠ Košice was already relegated before the last round, and the ŠK Slovan Bratislava team , which was always in the top three in previous Extraliga events, was three team points and 5.5 board points behind tenth place practically no more chance of relegation.
