Extraliga (Slovakia, chess) 2017/18

The Extraliga 2017/18 was the 26th season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .

Participating teams and mode

The first ten winners of the 2016/17 Extraliga were ŠK Dunajská Streda , REINTER Snina , ŠK Slovan Commander Bratislava , ŠK Prakovce , ŠO TJ Slávia UPJŠ Košice , ŠK Modra , Liptovská šachová škola , TJ INBEST Dunajov , ŠKŠ Dubnica and the ŠK Osuské , in addition, the ŠK AQUAMARIN Podhájska and the ŠK Junior CVČ Banská Bystrica were promoted from the 1st division. The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards, first the number of team points (three points for a win, one point for a tie, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a Winning game, half a point for a draw game, no point for a losing game). The last two were relegated and replaced by the winners of both seasons of the 1st division.

Events

The competitions took place on September 30th, October 1st, November 11th and 12th, December 9th and 10th 2017, January 6th and 7th and March 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2018.

Season course

The ŠK Dunajská Streda , REINTER Sina , the ŠK Prakovce and the ŠK Slovan Bratislava fought a four-way battle for the title, which the defending champion Dunajská Streda only won in the last round. While ŠO TJ Slávia UPJŠ Košice was prematurely relegated, the decision on the second relegated was only made in the last round against ŠK Junior CVČ Banská Bystrica .
