The 2003/04 Extraliga was the twelfth season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .

Participating teams and mode

With ŠK HOFFER Komárno , ŠK Hydina Košice , ŠK Slovan Bratislava , ŠK Dunaj Bratislava , ZK Slovakofarma Hlohovec , ŠK Slovan Levice , ŠK Softip Rajecké Teplice , ŠK Bestex Nové Zámky , ŠK Tatran Prešov and ŠKŠ Dubnica, the first ten of the 2002 Extraliga started / 03 , and the ŠK Slávia Nitra and the ŠK Liptov were promoted from the 1st division. The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards.The number of team points (three points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a Winning game, half a point for a draw game, no point for a losing game). The last three were relegated and replaced by the promoted from the 1st division.

Events

The competitions took place on October 25 and 26, November 15, 16, 29 and 30, 2003, January 18 and 31, February 1 and March 6 and 7, 2004.

Season course

The defending champions ŠK HOFFER Komárno , ZK Slovakofarma Hlohovec and ŠK Slovan Bratislava fought a three-way battle for the title, which Hlohovec won in the last round, although they lost to both direct competitors. The ŠK Slovan Levice was determined prematurely as relegated, while the decision on the other two relegation places was only made in the final round against the ŠK Dunaj Bratislava and the ŠK Softip Rajecké Teplice .
