Extraliga (Slovakia, chess) 1994/95

The Extraliga 1994/95 was the third season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .

Participating teams and mode

At the start were Lokomotíva ŽOS Trnava , ŠK Slovan Bratislava , ŠK Slovan Rimavská Sobota , TJ Slávia CAISSA Čadca , Slávia UPJŠ Košice , ŠK Tesla Liptovský Hrádok , ŠK Slovan Levice , ŠK Medea Martin , ŠK Dunaj Bratislava , the second team of the ŠK Slovan Bratislava and ŠK Mladosť Nové Zámky, the first eleven of the 1993/94 Extraliga, as well as the three promoted teams ŠK Tatran Prešov , ŠK Trenčín and ŠK Kúpele Piešťany . The 14 teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards (at least one woman had to be used), the number of team points first decided on the placement (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a winning game, half a point for a drawing game, no point for a losing game). The last three were relegated and replaced by the promoted from the 1st division.

Events

The competitions were played on October 22nd and 23rd, November 5th, 6th, 19th and 20th 1994, January 7th, 8th, 21st and 22nd, February 4th and 5th, and February 18th and 20th 1994 March 19, 1995.

Season course

In the title fight, ŠK Slovan Bratislava and 1. ŠK Rimavská Sobota fought a duel, which Sobota only won in the last round. The defending champion ŠK Lokomotíva Trnava only ended up in ninth place and gave up the last two competitions without a fight. TJ Slávia CAISSA Čadca and ŠK Kúpele Piešťany were determined to be relegated early on, while ŠK Bašta Nové Zámky lost to their direct rivals ŠK Medea Martin in the last lap and therefore also had to relegate .
