Extraliga (Slovakia, chess) 1995/96

The Extraliga 1995/96 was the fourth season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .

Participating teams and mode

At the start were with ŠK Gemer Rimavská Sobota , ŠK Slovan Bratislava , ŠK Tatran Prešov , ŠK Slovan Levice , Slávia UPJŠ Košice , ŠK Dunaj Bratislava , ŠK Trenčín , ŠK Tesla Liptovský Hrádok , Lokomotíva ŽOS Trnava , the second team of the ŠK Slovan Bratislava and ŠK Slovan Bratislava Medea Martin the first eleven of the Extraliga 1994/95 as well as the promoted ZŤS Spartak Dubnica , the junior team of the ŠK Slovan Bratislava and the second team of the ŠK Gemer Rimavská Sobota . The 14 teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards (at least one woman had to be used), the number of team points first decided on the placement (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the direct comparison and then the number of board points (one point for a winning game, half a point for a draw game, no point for a losing game). Since the league strength was reduced to 12 for the coming season, the last five were relegated and replaced by three promoted players from the 1st division.

Events

The competitions were played on October 14th and 15th, November 18th and 19th, December 2nd and 3rd 1995, January 20th and 21st, February 10th, 11th, 24th and 25th, and February 16th and 3rd March 17, 1996.

Season course

In the title fight, the ŠK Slovan Bratislava and the ŠK Medea Martin fought a duel, which Bratislava only won in the last round. ZŤS Spartak Dubnica and the second team from ŠK Gemer Rimavská Sobota were determined prematurely as relegated, while the decision on the other three relegation places was only made in the first final round. The defending champion ŠK Gemer Rimavská Sobota saved himself through a victory in ninth place, so that ŠK Tesla Liptovský Hrádok as well as the second and the junior team of the ŠK Slovan Bratislava had to relegate.
