Extraliga (Slovakia, chess) 2009/10
The 2009/10 Extraliga was the 18th season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .
Participating teams and mode
At the start were with ŠK Slovan Bratislava , TJ INBEST Dunajov , TJ Slávia CAISSA Čadca , NSK Nitra , ŠK Dunajská Streda , SO TJ Slávia Šafárik University Košice , ŠK Zentiva Hlohovec , MŠK KdV Kežmarok , ŠK KamC OS SR Trenčín and the SKS Dubnica the top ten the Extraliga 2008/09 , also the ŠK Prievidza and the TJ Mladosť Žilina were promoted from the 1st league. The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards.The number of team points (three points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a Winning game, half a point for a draw game, no point for a losing game). The last two were relegated and replaced by the winners of both seasons of the 1st league.

Events
The competitions took place on October 24th and 25th, November 28th and 29th 2009, January 23rd and 24th, February 20th and 21st and on March 12th, 13th and 14th 2010.
Season course
The ŠK Prievidza , the defending ŠK Slovan Bratislava and MŠK KdV Kežmarok fought a three-way battle for the title. Prievidza secured a good starting position with victories against their direct competitors, although the decision in their favor was only made in the last round. The NSK Nitra and TJ Mladosť Žilina were already before the last round firmly relegated.
