Mikko Kristian Kouki (born September 14, 1967 in Lohja , Finland ) is a Finnish actor .

Life

Mikko Kouki is the son of the actor Tapio Kouki and nephew of the actress Marja-Leena Kouki . His cousin is the actor and singer Samuli Edelmann . From 1986 to 1991 he studied acting at the Helsinki Theater Academy . He then found work as an actor at the Turku City Theater from 1991 to 1994 .

Kouki was already on screen during his student days. He made his debut in 1988 as Raimo Hakala in the literary film adaptation Pohjanmaa , directed by Pekka Parikka , based on the novel of the same name by Antti Tuuri . He celebrated his two greatest successes in 2007 when he was awarded the national Jussi film prize twice. For his portrayal of Markku, he was named Best Supporting Actor alongside his cousin Samuli Edelmann and Laura Malmivaara in the comedy directed by Aku Louhimies . He also received an award for Best Screenplay for his work on the script of the love drama Valkoinen kaupunki, also directed by Louhimies .

Kouki is married to the writer Niina Repo and has two sons together.
