Captain Cleanoff is an Australian grindcore band from Adelaide that was formed in 1997.
history
The singer Ben Parson and the guitarist Adrian Medhurst were already musically active in their hometown of Mount Gambier in 1995 , both of which were still attending high school. In 1997 they moved to Adelaide , where they founded Captain Cleanoff. In the following three years a demo and two split releases with Drunkard and Open Wound were released. In addition, the band went on tour through Australia with Brutal Truth in 1998 . Shortly after it was founded, the original drummer Christian Dicer was replaced by Heath Twigden. In addition, the bassist Michael Slottagraf left the band. Then the guitarist Rohan Johnson took over the bass, before Anand White came as a replacement. At the beginning of 2000, the drummer Murray Ruse joined the founding members Parson and Medhurst as well as the guitarist Rohan and the bassist Anand White, which finally resulted in a permanent line-up three years after the founding. Meanwhile the members were spread over three different states. The band then went to the studio to record a self-titled EP . In addition, the group held other gigs and went on another tour with Brutal Truth and also performed in 2003 and 2006 on the Metal for the Brain . In 2006 the band went back to the studio to record their debut album. Over the next two years, the sound carrier was recorded, mixed and mastered, the last two jobs of Scott Hull were taken over by Pig Destroyer . During this time, the band also continued to perform, for example, they went on tour with Napalm Death . In addition, the debut album was re-released in September 2007 with live songs and the songs from the two split releases as a bonus. The album was released in March 2008 by Obscene Productions under the name Symphonies of Slackness . The release was followed by appearances in Australia along with Suffocation , Municipal Waste and Napalm Death. After performing with Pig Destroyer, the band held an Australian tour in November 2008. In addition, it went on a European tour , which also included an appearance on the Obscene Extreme .
In 2010 White left the band and was replaced by Jason "FC" Fuller. The change took place during the first US tour, which also included an appearance at the Maryland Death Fest . In early 2012, Fuller left the band. For the following tour through Southeast Asia Kevin McClaer came to the cast. At the end of the year Medhurst left the band because he decided to move to New Zealand . During this time the band was working on material for a split release with The Kill as well as on their next album. The split release appeared in 2013. That year the band also appeared again on the Obscene Extreme. In 2015 the second album Rising Terror was released .
style
Scott Alisoglu of Blabbermouth.net noted in his review of Symphonies of Slackness that the band plays grindcore in the style of napalm death. The music is aggressive and fast with variable guttural singing .
