The Kill is an Australian grindcore band from Melbourne , which was founded in 2000, disbanded in 2003 and has been active again since 2008.

history

After the band Openwound split up, drummer Jay Jones and guitarist Robert "Roby" Polzella decided to form The Kill with Undinism singer Neil Cuthbertson in 2000. The group got its name from the napalm death album Scum , which contains a song of the same name. This was followed by the recording and publication of a first demo . In 2003 The Soundtrack to Your Violence was released by No Escape Records , whereupon Tony Forde of Blood Duster can be heard. The recording of this EP had started with Cuthbertson, interrupted by his departure and ended with Forde. Some songs from the EP are also included on a split release with the Swedish band Birdflesh . The band had split up before the EP was released.

In 2008 the group got together again, now with Nik Kennedy as singer. In the same year, the compilation Hate Sessions 2000 - 2002 was released , which consists of the self-titled demo from 2001 and The Soundtrack to Your Violence . The following year, the live album Blast Beat'n the Shit Outta PBS (Live to Air) was released , which was created on the PBS radio show Burning Bitumen . The release took place on CD on Polzella's label Blastafuk Records and later as a record on Disharmonic Records . In 2010 a total of 20 songs were recorded, for later split releases with Captain Cleanoff , Mortalized and The Communion. The following year the group was seen at the Maryland Deathfest and in Brisbane at the Bastardfest . In addition, the debut album Make 'Em Suffer was released . In 2013 the band took part in a split release from Selfmadegod Records with Antigama and Noisear . In 2014 it went on tour through Europe . In addition, 19 new songs were recorded for the second album Kill Them… All . The sound carrier was released in 2015 by Obscene Productions .

style

Sean Reveron of cvltnation.com wrote in his review of Make 'Em Suffer that no song passed the two-minute mark. He assigned the band to grindcore, the songs being characterized by confused drum structures and powerful guitar riffs . The speed is mostly aggressively high, with the album being produced in the classic Powerviolence style. Christopher Luedtke from metalinjection.net stated in his review of Kill Them… All that The Kill is one of the most important bands of modern Grindcore. She relies on humor and sensitivity in her songs, whereby they have more of a satirical and commentary effect rather than addressing political or personal problems. Although the music hardly offers any variety, it still offers good, straightforward and aggressive grindcore and is suitable for fans of Fuck… I'm Dead , Municipal Waste or Gridlink .
