Antigama is a Polish grindcore band from Warsaw that was founded in 2000.

history

The band was founded in late 2000 by guitarist Sebastian Rokicki and drummer Krzysztof "Sivy" Bentkowski. A short time later, the singer Łukasz Myszkowski and the bassist Maciej Moruś aka “Macio Moretti” joined them. Shortly thereafter, the band recorded their debut album, Intellect Made Us Blind . In September 2001 the group went on tour with the Polish Damnable and the Italians from The Brainwash. After Michał Pietrasik joined the band as the new bass player, the group recorded a split release with Agathocles . Antigama's part consisted of covers by the Polish hardcore punk band Siekiera . Then the group went on tour with the Italians Nefas and Bastard Saints, as well as the Polish bands Pignation and Toxic Bonkers . As a foretaste for the next album, the group recorded the Demo Promo 2003 in January 2003 , which contained three songs, one of which was a cover version of Godflesh's Anything Is Mine . In July, a split was released with Deranged Insane. In September the group went on another tour together with Third Degree and Pignation. Meanwhile the songs Fala and Intellect Made Us Blind were remixed by the Italian electro band The Seed, but only released in 2005. In 2004 the band embarked on a ten day tour, on which the band performed one daily. The band Deformed also took part in the tour. In April, Antiself Records released a split release with the Australian band Open Wound. Shortly afterwards, the second album Discomfort was released on Extremist Records , which was recorded under the direction of Szymon Czech in the Selani Studio in Olsztyn . In June the band recorded 6 new songs for a split release with Third Degree and Herman Rarebell, which was released via Selfmadegod Records . Then the band played on the Obscene Extreme . In March 2005 the band recorded the third studio album, Zeroland , which was released on Selfmadegod Records. The label also re-released Discomfort , which contained bonus songs and a video for Flies . The re-release was released in August via Selmadegod Records and Fast and Furious Records . In early September the band played at the Giants of Grind Festival in Germany , before Zeroland was released in November . In March 2006 the band played at Metalmania before going on tour through Germany with Keitzer in April. After the band signed a contract with Relapse Records , they began work on the next album. Meanwhile, in June 2006, Deformeathing Production released another split release, this time together with Deformed under the name Roots of Chaos . Antigama's part consisted of a single, 12-minute song called Psicobambola . In December 2006 the band recorded the album Resonance in Studio X in Olsztyn. In March 2007, a split release with Drugs of Faith appeared on Selfmadegod Records . The sound carrier contained two new songs and a cover version of Goblins Zombi . The first new material recorded in the studio under the direction of Relapse Records appeared on the split release Slimewave Series , which also featured Rot . Resonance was released in May 2007. Shortly thereafter, another split was released, along with Pig Destroyer and Coldworker , as well as a Japanese version of Resonance with the bonus song Zoom . In July the band played together with Anna Zaradny at the Warsaw Aurora Club. Shortly afterwards, the band played, also in Warsaw, at the Tory Festival, which took place under a bridge. In October they went on tour with Nyia and Blindead , with Michał “Mike” Zybert as the new bass player. After that, a split release appeared with Nyia via Selmadegod Records. In the following years, the studio albums Warning (Relapse Records) in 2009 and Meteor (Selfmadegod Records) in 2013 followed, along with numerous other recordings . In its previous existence, the band also played with other bands such as Napalm Death , Fuck the Facts , Nasum , Complete Failure , Today Is the Day , Dying Fetus , Extreme Noise Terror , Misery Index , Rotten Sound , Cephalic Carnage , Trap Them , Cattle Decapitation , The Red Chord , Phobia , Brutal Truth, and Cannabis Corpse .

style

According to Eduardo Rivadavia from Allmusic , the band initially played an aggressive and fast mixture of grind and mathcore and in the following years the band remained technically extremely demanding. Thomas Strater from Metal Hammer called the music on Warning progressive grindcore because the music is very complex. The sounding electric guitars would easily be reminiscent of Voivod . The vocals sound "aggressive and dirty".
