Coldworker is a Swedish deathgrind band from Örebro that was formed in 2006.

history

The band was formed by Nasum drummer Anders Jakobson in January 2006 , about a year after his band split up. After he had announced the founding of his new band on his blog on the Nasum homepage, guitarist Anders Bertilsson joined the line-up, followed shortly after by bassist Oskar Pålsson. The first joint rehearsal took place on February 2nd. Then the band continued to write new songs and rehearsed more intensely in the following weeks. In March 2006 André Alvinzi ( Carnal Grief ) joined the band as the second guitarist. The band's name was announced in April before Joel Fornbrant joined the band as a singer towards the end of the month. Originally, guitarist Anders Bertilsson was also supposed to take over the vocals. The first live performance followed in June together with Gadget and Radioskugga. Then began work on the debut album The Contaminated Void . The recordings took place within three weeks and were later mixed by Dan Swanö and Peter In De Betou . In addition, the band signed a contract with Relapse Records . The next two appearances followed in August and September. The Contaminated Void was released in November . After the release, the band held ten more appearances, playing in Sweden and Denmark , performing with Arch Enemy and Path of No Return . In December the band held the last two gigs of the year in Sweden. In January 2007 André Alvinzi was replaced by Daniel Schröder. An appearance at the Finnish Metal Expo in Helsinki followed in the following month. In June 2007 a two-week European tour followed with Misery Index and Dew-Scented . After the tour work began on the second album. The recordings for this took place from December 2007 to January 2008, with the recordings taking place in four different places: The drum tracks were recorded in the Soundlab Studios , the electric guitar was recorded in the house of Johan Berglund , bassist at This Haven , the bass in Jakobson's house and the singing at Coldworker Studios. The album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö in the Unisound studio . Twelve of the 15 songs were released on the album. A cover version of Sepultura's Necromancer was included on the Japanese version as a bonus song. In May 2008 the album Rotting Paradise was released worldwide.

After a few appearances, the band recorded two cover versions for a tribute album at Coldworker Studios in October 2008: Den mörka tiden , originally by Nasum, and Crematorium , originally by Repulsion . In January 2009 the band performed for The Black Dahlia Murder on their tour through Scandinavia. From April to October the band recorded new songs, which were mixed by Johan Berglund. The tribute album Tribute to Repulsion was released in July. A split release with Deathbound followed in August . The songs for this came from the recordings for Rotting Paradise . In October the band went on a small tour through Sweden with Remasculate , and Gadget was also represented at one gig. The tribute album Tribute to Nasum was released in November . The following year the band spent several concert appearances writing new songs. The recordings for the new album began in December 2010 in the Soundlab Studios, where the recordings for the drums took place. In the following two months, the remaining instruments were recorded in the Ülgnor Studios under the direction of Johan Berglund. The singing was recorded at Coldworker Studios. The album was mixed and mastered again by Dan Swanö in the Unisound studio. The album was named The Doomsayer's Call . Since Relapse Records decided against the release of the album in spring 2011, the band signed a contract with Listenable Records in August , which released the album in February 2012.

style

The band plays a mixture of death metal and grindcore , the music being partly comparable to that of Misery Index , but coldworkers are technically more demanding.
