Fuck the Facts is a Canadian grindcore band from Gatineau that was formed in 1997.

history

The band was founded in 1997 by guitarist Topon Das as a still nameless project. Various demos and split releases followed. In 2000, the album Discoing the Dead was recorded and released a little later through Black Hole Productions . Due to the success of the album, Topon decided in early 2001 to continue the band with a permanent line-up. The band now consisted of the drummer Matt Connell, the guitarist Tim Audette, the singer Brent Christoff and Topon's brother Shomir Das on bass. The latter left the band a short time later. In the fall of 2001, the band recorded their second album, Mullet Fever , which was released on Sonic Deadline Records . Songs from the album were also used for a split release with the Italian grindcore band Kastrat.

After the recordings, singer Christoff left the band and was replaced by singer Mel Mongeon. In 2002 the band recorded the next album, Backstabber Etiquette , which was released through Great White North Records . In addition, a split release was released together with Sylvester Staline on Anvil of Fury Records . In addition, the band went on tour through Ontario together with Ghoulunatics . In addition, the band performed in Winnipeg at the Arsonfest. This was followed by a tour of the maritime provinces in December 2002. After a tour of the east coast of Canada in June 2003, guitarist Tim Audette left the band. The three of them recorded songs for a split release with Feeble Minded, which was released through Grodhaisn Productions . In August the band went on tour through the USA together with Malefaction . After returning to Canada, Dave Menard joined the band as the new guitarist. In late 2003, the band finished their recordings for a split release with Sergent Slaughter, which was released through Undecent Records and Meat 5000 Records . After three songs for another split release along with Subcut, which was released through Bucho Discos , had been recorded in spring 2004 , drummer Connell left the band. Tim Olsen joined the line-up as a replacement, while Marc-André Mongeon joined the band as bassist. In the summer of 2004 a two-week tour through Canada followed with Head Hits Concrete. In the fall the band recorded six songs, which were released together with two other songs as the EP Legacy of Hopelessness . The six songs were also featured on a European split through Privileged to Fail Records along with Narcosis, Midget Parade and Archer. In spring 2005, guitarist Menard and bassist Mongeon left the line-up, after which guitarist Mathieu Vilandré and bassist Steve Chartier came to replace the line-up. A week-long tour of Canada followed in July, starting in Sydney and continuing in Vancouver before the band returned home. In October the band recorded a demo that included two new songs that were used for the following album. The songs were recorded here by ex-drummer Matt Connell. The rest of the year the band wrote their new album. In early 2006, drummer Tim Olsen left the group, whereupon Mathieu Vilandré switched from electric guitar to drums. In February 2006 the band went to Studio En-Phase in Montreal to record the album Stigmata High-Five . Shortly after the start of recording, the group also signed a contract with Relapse Records . In May, GWN Records released the Compilation Collection Of Splits 2002-2004 , which included remastered versions of the songs found on split releases during that period. At the same time, the band held a 12-day tour, along with Leng Tch'e and Beneath the Massacre .

After the album was released at the end of August, tours followed, which lasted until mid-2007 before bassist Chartier left the band. The three of them went back to the studio to record the album Disgorge Mexico . However, recordings were suspended at the end of the year. At the beginning of 2008, the band went on tour, together with the new bassist Marc Bourgon and the guitarist Johnathan Ibay, and finished recording the album. The album was released in late July before the group went on tour with Psyopus , War from a Harlots Mouth and Left to Vanish in August. In 2011 the album Die Miserable was released on Relapse Records .

style

Florian Krapp from Metal Hammer described Disgorge Mexico as a mixture of grindcore, noise and hardcore punk . According to Melanie Aschenbrenner, the band on Die Miserable had largely said goodbye to short songs. She described the music as a mixture of noise, hardcore punk and death metal , while songs like Census Blank were heavily influenced by post-hardcore .
