Silvio Napoli
Silvio Napoli (born July 17, 1902 in Villa San Giovanni , † October 14, 1961 in Rome ) was an Italian general. From 1958 to 1961 he was Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force .
Career
Napoli first completed training as an artillery officer , then one as a seaplane pilot , which he completed in June 1926. In 1928 he officially transferred from the army to the air force. Until 1933 he served, among other things, at the seafaring school in Orbetello , from where he took part in the long-haul Italo Balbos flights . As a major , he commanded a 15º Stormo flying group from 1933 to 1936 . After a deployment in Libya , he took over as a colonel in the 15th squadron, which he led in World War II .
Napoli was reactivated in 1947. In Rome he took over the management of various organizational units on the General Staff of the Air Force. In February 1955 he became head of cabinet of Defense Minister Paolo Emilio Taviani . From February 1, 1958 to September 1, 1961, he was Chief of Staff at the head of Aeronautica Militare .
