Laura Pauliina Malmivaara (born October 26, 1973 in Kajaani , Finland ) is a Finnish actress .

Life

Laura Malmivaara is the older sister of the ice hockey player Olli Malmivaara . Her cousin is the actress and singer Malla Malmivaara . After graduating from high school in 1992, Malmivaara began studying theology at the University of Helsinki in 1993 , which she dropped out in favor of training in photography. From 1998 to 2002 he finally studied acting at the Helsinki Theater Academy .

After making her screen debut in 2000 in the love drama Levottomat directed by Aku Louhimies , she had her first leading role in a film in 2002 with the portrayal of Laura in Kuutamolla, also directed by Louhimies . She celebrated her greatest critical success for Spiel der Carita in the comedy FC Venus, staged by Joona Tena - football is a woman's affair . In 2006 she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the national film award Jussi . She was also seen in two Italian film productions. In 2002 and 2008 she played one of the leading roles in the dramas L'amore di Màrja and Il prossimo tuo , staged by the Finnish-Italian filmmaker Anne Riitta Ciccone .

With Myytävänä elämä , Malmivaara released their first and only music album in 2005.

Malmivaara was married to director Aku Louhimies from 2003 to 2012. The couple have two children together.
