history

Founded Maschinenfabrik Mikron AG in 1908 in Biel in Switzerland. In the first half of the last century, Mikron made a contribution to the industrialization of the Swiss watch industry with gear cutting machines and tools . From the 1960s, Mikron gradually expanded its activities to include milling machines , plastic components and machining systems (special machines).

The entry into the business with machining systems took place in 1962 with the takeover of Haesler SA in Boudry . The company, founded in Le Locle in 1918 , built the first transfer machine for the watch industry in 1925. In the mid-1970s, Mikron Haesler SA developed its first assembly system. Since 1990 the activities have been concentrated exclusively on the development of assembly solutions. Today Mikron SA Boudry is the headquarters of the Mikron Automation division.

The machine tool division was expanded in 1986 with the takeover of Albe SA in Agno TI . The company, founded in 1957, was involved in the worldwide triumph of the ballpoint pen . Over time, the rotary indexing machines for the production of other small parts made of metal have been further developed. In 1990 the machining systems division was relocated from Mikron SA Boudry to Agno. Today, Mikron SA Agno is the headquarters of the Mikron Machining and Mikron Tool divisions.

Mikron Holding AG was founded in Biel in 1961 and has been a public company since 1983 .
