Milan Šipka

Milan Šipka ( Serbian - Cyrillic Милан Шипка ; * October 7, 1931 in Dragelji, Bosanska Gradiška ; † July 8, 2011 in Sarajevo ) was a Yugoslav or Bosnian-Herzegovinian linguist who was particularly familiar with the Bosnian and Serbian languages as well as the Language culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Life

After attending school, Šipka studied linguistics at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zagreb , where he completed his doctorate with a dissertation on language with Petar Kočić .

He later worked for many years as the director of the Institute for Languages ​​in Sarajevo and was also a research scientist at the Institute for the Study of Relations between Ethnic Groups. In addition to professorships at the Pedagogical Academy and the Academy for Performing Arts, he was also a visiting professor at the Institute for Slavic Studies at the University of Klagenfurt .

During his teaching and research activities, he dealt in particular with the Bosnian and Serbian languages ​​as well as the language culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He wrote more than 600 articles in professional journals and books. His most famous publications include:
