Jeffrey Hoover
Jeffrey Hoover (born September 11, 1959 in Anderson , Indiana ) is an American composer and painter.
Live and act
Hoover studied music education, composition, and musicology at Ball State University and interdisciplinary arts and composition at Texas Tech University . His composition teachers were David Foley , Ernesto Pellegrini , Loretta Jankowski and Mary Jeanne van Appledorn , and he learned electronic studio technology from Cleve Scott and Steven Paxton . He heads the Faculty of Art, Performing and Applied Arts.
In 1990 he founded the New Music Today concert series , at whose concerts works by Mary Jeanne van Appledorn, Dominick Argento , Larry Austin , John Biggs , Kristine H. Burns , Sonny Burnette , Keith A. Carpenter , James Dashow , Jewel Dirks , Carlisle Floyd, among others , Warren Gooch , Orlando Legname , Tom Lopez , Tim Meier , Donald C. Meyer , Dary John Mizelle , Katherine Ann Murdock , Steven Paxton, Kevin Purrone , James Paul Sain , Robert Sibbing , Greg Steinke , Ed Tatom and David Vayo .
Hoover is active in the field of jazz music as a saxophonist and band leader. His compositions for new music include works for individual instruments, chamber music ensembles and symphonic ensembles . Starting with The Colors of Music (1990), Hoover is also active in the field of multimedia art, combining painting and music.
