Milan Jelić

Milan Jelić (born March 26, 1956 in Koprivna near Modriča , Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia , † September 30, 2007 in Doboj , Bosnia and Herzegovina ) was President of the Republika Srpska entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Life

After studying economics at the Universities of Novi Sad and Banja Luka , which he completed with a doctorate, Milan Jelić was manager of various companies in Modriča (most recently director of the oil refinery from November 1993).

As a member of the Srpska Demokratska Stranka he was elected to the Parliament of the Republika Srpska. In 1998 he left this party and became a member of the Savez nezavisnih socijaldemokrata .

From February 28, 2006 he was Minister of Economy of the Republika Srpska until he became President of the Republika Srpska on November 9, 2006. He was also a member of the presidium of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Football Association. He died of a heart attack at the age of 51. Until a successor was elected, the President of the Parliament of the Republika Srpska temporarily took over the office of Jelić.

Milan Jelić was the father of footballer Petar Jelić .
