Milan Pacanda (born February 28, 1978 in Brno ) is a Czech football player . The midfielder was considered one of the greatest talents in Czech football in the late 1990s.

Player career

Milan Pacanda started playing football in his hometown at FC Zbrojovka Brno . The talent of the striker was quickly recognized, who was very strong both technically and in the end. Pacanda made his debut in the first team when he was 17. He and his father signed a twelve-year contract that would hinder him in his later career. The basic salary was a very low 3,500 kroner. This number was later changed, but the long term remained.

After his debut season, the lively striker fell into a hole and complained of back problems. He could not train for several months, in the 1996/97 season he was without a job. The following year Pacanda played regularly, if rarely over the full distance. He scored four goals in 28 games. On September 23, 1997, he made his debut at the age of 19 in the Czech U21 team, for which he should play six more games.

Pacanda became a crowd favorite in Brno because of his way of playing. In the 1998/99 season he scored nine goals in 23 games. Pacanda was supposed to move to Bologna FC in the summer of 1999 , but that never happened. The contract terms were clarified, on April 24, 1999, Brno was playing for Viktoria Žižkov , the move should be completed. After a foul by central defender Jan Zakopal, Pacanda injured his knee so badly that FC Bologna decided not to sign.

The young striker spent months in rehab training and was only able to get back into preparation during the winter break. He couldn't cope with this situation, he became addicted to gambling , had large debts and led an unprofessional lifestyle. In the first training session, Pacanda suffered the same injury again and again saw a break of several months. In this situation, his manager Pavel Paska and coach Karel Jarůšek helped him . While Paska was taking on Pacanda's debts, Jarùšek offered him to live with him, and he prescribed an individual training program.

Pacanda made his comeback after an almost one and a half year break on August 4, 2000 at home against Sparta Prague . He only played the full distance towards the end of the season. After a full recovery, Pacanda got into the shape of his life. In the 2001/02 season he scored thirteen goals. Potential buyers were not only deterred by Pacanda's reputation for being a problematic player, but also by a high transfer fee.

In mid-2004, Milan Pacanda moved to Sparta Prague for around 15 million crowns and received a four-year contract with the Czech record champions. At first he even exceeded expectations, scoring four goals in three games. In winter, however, there was a change of coach, Jaroslav Hřebík took over for František Straka . Hřebík hardly set up Pacanda anymore. In the summer of 2005 he gave him the clearance, and Pacanda switched to FC Wacker Tirol on loan , where he scored seven goals in 22 games. However, the Innsbruckers decided not to take an option to buy.

Pacanda returned to Prague but was not allowed to play. It was not until the beginning of September that he was loaned to his home club 1. FC Brno . He played regularly in the 2006/07 season but only scored one goal and could not match his best times. In addition, he drove under the influence of alcohol at the end of January 2007, the club then fined him one hundred thousand crowns.

The contract with Sparta Prague until June 2008 was terminated in July 2007, Milan Pacanda signed a contract with 1. FC Brno. During the winter break of 2007/08 he was loaned to Tescoma Zlín .

In July 2008 Pacanda moved on loan to the Kazakh first division club Shakhtar Qaraghandy . In the winter of 2008/09 the midfielder returned to Brno and was loaned to the third division club 1. SC Znojmo for the second half of the season. In the second half of the 2009/10 season Pacanda was loaned to fourth division club FC Slovan Rosice. In the summer of 2010 Pacanda moved to the Slovak second division club FK Bodva Moldava nad Bodvou.
