The Milchling house in Sommerach

The so-called Milchling-Haus (also Gutshaus Milchling ) with the address Untere Maintorgasse 9 is a former estate in Sommerach in Lower Franconia . Today it houses the Milchling winery.

history

The history of the manor is closely linked to the political history of the village. During the Middle Ages , the manor in Sommerach was divided between several lords. The majority owned the Münsterschwarzach Abbey , 16 farms had passed to the Lords of Vestenberg. In 1512 and 1516 they sold twelve of these farms to the Würzburg monastery . The remaining four went to Heinrich Schutzpar Freiherr von Burgmilchling and Wilhelmsdorf in 1589 .

The Milchling needed a permanent seat in the village in order to be able to represent the later six families under their rule by a mayor . That is why they erected the building that still exists in 1598. The Milchling family died out in 1653 and a dispute broke out over the new manorial order in the village. Half of the Milchlings' share of the village rulership finally fell in 1668 to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach , the other to the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg .

After the settlement of the so-called Sommerach succession dispute, the building was probably no longer used as an office building. Instead, the administration buildings were concentrated in Maintorstrasse. Sommerach residents moved into the courtyard and the estate was converted into a residential building. Today there is a winery operated by Gerhard Schleicher on the premises. He also pushed the renovation of the building. The former manor is classified as a monument .

architecture

The building is a two-storey saddle roof structure in the forms of the Renaissance . Another two-storey extension has a hipped roof . Towards Maintorgasse, the estate closes with a curved gable. The half-timbered structure on the upper floor of the courtyard is plastered. The complex is surrounded by a wall, the two buildings fill the southwest corner of the property.
