Milena Dvorská

Milena Dvorská (born September 7, 1938 in Prostějov , Czechoslovakia , † December 22, 2009 in Prague ) was a Czech actress .

Life

Dvorská was working as a nurse when she was discovered for the film. She made her film debut as a teenager in 1955, with no acting training, in the role of Princess Maruška in the fairy tale film Once Upon a King . Also in 1955 she took part in the film Angels in the Mountains ( Anděl na horách ). After her first films, Dvorská completed professional acting training at the theater faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague .

In 1961 her adult career began, which lasted over 60 films and covered the breadth of Czechoslovak film production. Often, however, Dvorská was used in historical films and in fairy tale films. In addition to film appearances, Dvorská also took on roles in television films and television series. In 1973, she played under the direction of Ralf Kirsten the Euphemie in an adaptation of the novel The Devil's Elixirs of ETA Hoffmann in a co-production of the television of the GDR and the Czechoslovak television. In 1975 she took on the role of Queen at the side of Matthias Habich in the fourth part of the multi-part ZDF television film Des Christoffel von Grimmelshausen adventurous Simplicissimus by Fritz Umgelter . In 1976 she played with Libuše Šafránková in the fairy tale film The Little Mermaid ( Malá mořská víla ). In 1985 she appeared in the melancholy comedy Heimat, sweet home by Jiří Menzel . In a film adaptation of Bedřich Smetana's opera Libusa , she impressively embodied the title role. In 1970 Dvorská also took part in the well-known Czech television series Pan Tau .

As a stage actress, after completing her studies, she was a member of the Prague Theater D 47 , directed by Emil František Burian , and performed there in numerous roles until 1991. In the 1970s she also played in the theater behind the gate founded by Otomar Krejča in Prague .

She was also employed as a voice actress. In 1997 she received a nomination for the Bohemian Lion .
