The Catholic Council of the Catholic Military Bishop for the German Federal Armed Forces (until 2009: Central Assembly (ZV) ) is an advisory body within the Catholic military pastoral care .

The Military Catholic Council (MKR) is the association of representatives of the lay apostolate in the jurisdiction of the Catholic Military Bishop at the federal level. This makes it the immediate advisory body of the Catholic Military Bishop. The Catholic Council meets once a year for its plenary assembly as part of the Week of Encounter . During the same week, the Federal Conference of the Community of Catholic Soldiers (GKS) meets .

The organization is officially recognized by the military bishop within the meaning of the Council Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity. (No. 26) It roughly corresponds to the framework of the Würzburg Synod .

Committees

The MKR has eight technical committees in which a major part of the specialist work is done. These are each headed by a member of the Executive Board. The committee members are appointed by the board. On the occasion of the week of the meeting, the heads of the technical committees report to the full assembly of the MKR on the work in their subject areas.

I. Daily service and Christianity / mission

The main topics are “ Life Science Lessons (LKU)”, “Family pastoral care ” and “ Pastoral care in foreign assignments”. Among other things, Technical Committee I was involved in the creation of the guideline in accordance with the Central Service Regulations (ZDv) 10/4 .

II. Church work

Here questions and problems from the pastoral care districts are forwarded to the board with suggestions for answers and solutions. In addition, Technical Committee II elaborates proposals for the organization of the lay committees and for the support of lay work in foreign assignments. He observes changes in the Bundeswehr that have an impact on the military chaplaincy in the locations. The Technical Committee II maintains close connections to the parish councils (PGR) and to the deanery working conferences (DAK) of the Catholic military deaneries (KMilD).

III. organization

The Technical Committee III, together with the responsible department in the Catholic Military Bishop's Office, organizes the full assemblies of the Catholic Council and plans the appointments of the Board of Directors.

IV. Association work

In connection and coordination with the “Association of Catholic Soldiers” in the Bundeswehr (GKS), Technical Committee IV establishes and maintains contacts with Catholic associations.

V. Social engagement

The main task of Committee V are proposals for projects of the social-charitable campaign “Neighborhood Aid” of the Catholic Military Pastoral Care. To this end, he works closely with the partners in the projects and accompanies their implementation. As part of maintaining contact with Renovabis , he represents the Catholic Council at partnership meetings of this organization.

VI. Social development / peace / environment

The focus of the kind Committee VI is in the field of patients available with the subregions Vorsorgevollmacht and supply power . The committee is currently (2009) vacant and no longer active.

Aid projects

Neighborhood help

Neighborhood Aid is a social and charitable campaign by Catholic soldiers of the Bundeswehr for needy and needy people in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. On May 3, 1990, the MKR took the decision to set up neighborhood aid and since then ten projects have been started. With these projects, the Catholic soldiers succeeded in building “bridges to Eastern Europe” in the years after reunification and the opening of the border. Since 1994, neighborhood help has been carried out in close cooperation with the church aid organization RENOVABIS .
