Milo Burnell Evarts

Milo Burnell Evarts (born September 3, 1913 in Minnesota - † October 12, 1942 ) was an American soldier.

Evarts was on 31 August 1940 in the reserve of the US Navy out and was on 12 June 1940 Ensign promoted. In the Battle of Cape Esperance , Lieutenant Evarts was killed on the night of October 11th to October 12th 1942 while damaging his ship, the USS Boise (CL-47) . Notwithstanding the explosions of the fire that broke out in the turret in which he was serving, he held his post until his death.

He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross .

The escort destroyer USS Evarts (DE-5) was named after Evarts .
