Milton Reid

Milton Rutherford Reid (born April 29, 1917 in India , † 1987 ) was an actor and wrestler . He acted in some James Bond films in smaller roles.

life and work

Reid started his career as a wrestler and celebrated success in wrestling as "The Mighty Chung". Reid began a film career when he was around 20. He got his first notable role in the series Ivanhoe , in which Roger Moore later also starred. Reid kept himself as an actor in the film industry because he was always the ideal cast for strange characters due to his threatening charisma on the one hand and his transfigured looks on the other.

He played in The Demon with Bloody Hands , Ferry to Hong Kong , Our Man in Havana , The Terror of the Tongs , among others . In the Bond movie James Bond, Dr. No , he played a henchman on Crab Key. When the role of Oddjob in the film Goldfinger was to be cast, Reid applied for a second time for a Bond film, but fellow wrestler and actor Harold Sakata got the role. Reid received his next role in a Bond film in 1967 in Casino Royale .

After that, Reid appeared in other films along with many other Bond veterans. He played alongside Diana Rigg and Telly Savalas in Mörder GmbH and was in The Return of Dr. To see Phibes , in which Caroline Munro also participates. Other films with Reid were The Pink Panther Returns , Caprona - The Forgotten Land and No. 1 of the Secret Service . With The Spy Who Loved Me , Reid brought himself back to Bond moviegoers' memories: he played Sandor, the walker's sidekick . There was 15 years between the first and last appearance in a Bond film.
