The Reich of Crystals Museum is the publicly accessible part of the Mineralogical State Collection in the Munich Art Area . It includes 100,000 exhibits, including diamonds , emeralds and other precious stones . There is also a collection of meteorites on display, as well as quartz from the Alpine region and minerals from Bavarian ore deposits. Showpieces are the King Ludwig diamond , the rubellite crystal , the Takowaya emerald and the bulk of the meteorite from Mauerkirchen . The formation and properties of the minerals and crystals are presented in detail. The collection goes back, among other things, to the Leuchtenberg collection , primarily of Nikolaus de Beauharnais .

The State Collection is one of five research institutions in the Bavarian State Natural Science Collections . The Realm of Crystals Museum is located in the art area on the site of the former Turkish barracks in a building of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics of the Ludwig Maximilians University at Theresienstraße 41, 80333 Munich, with entrance via the outside staircase at Marianne-von- Werefkin Way.
