Ministério das Cidades

The Ministério das Cidades ( MCidades ), German cities Ministry or the Ministry of Cities , was a Brazilian Ministry with the remit of improving the urban habitat of the population. It was founded in 2003 under the government of Lula da Silva and was based in the capital Brasília . The last minister in the Temer cabinet was Alexandre Baldy since November 2017 .

The official title was Ministro das Cidades , translated into German as City Minister or Minister for Cities . The ministry combined some areas of responsibility from the departments of other ministries and to support them, including environmental renovation , housing construction and condominium, urban transport, and urban development planning. It supported the legislative requirements from the city ​​statute , which implements these tasks at the municipal level.

It was dissolved by the government of Jair Bolsonaro and became part of the Ministério do Desenvolvimento Regional (MDR, German Ministry for Regional Development ) on January 1, 2019 .
