Minuscule 74 (numbered after Gregory-Aland ), ε 260 ( from Soden ) is a Greek minuscule manuscript of the New Testament on 204 sheets of parchment (20.1 × 14.8 cm). The manuscript is dated to 1291 or 1292 by its colophon . The handwriting is incomplete.

description

The manuscript contains the text of the four Gospels with gaps (Matthew 1: 1–14; 5: 29–6.1). It was written in one column with 26-17 lines each. The manuscript contains the Epistula ad Carpianum , the Eusebian tables, lists of the κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, ammonian sections (Matthew 359, Mark 241, Luke 341, John 232), the Eusebian canon , lectionary markings, incipits, menologion and Photos.

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Byzantine text type . Kurt Aland placed it in Category V a.

history

The manuscript was written in 1291 or 1292 by Theodor Hagiopetrita.

The manuscript came in 1727 from the monastery Pantokratoros to England and belonged to the Archbishop of Canterbury William Wake (1657-1737), together with the minuscules 73 and 506 - 520 . Wake donated them to Christ Church College, Oxford. The code has been examined and partially collated by John Walker . Caspar René Gregory collated it in 1883.

The Code is currently held at Christ Church College under the signature Wake 20 in Oxford .
