Minyag Dratshang or Minyag Dratshang Chöphel Ling ( Tib . : mi nyag grwa tshang bkra shis chos' phel gling ) is a monastery of the Gelugpa School of Tibetan Buddhism, famous for its ancient chorten . It lies near the Yellow River in the large village Heyin河阴镇from Guide (Thrika) of the Autonomous Prefecture of Hainan of Tibetans in the northwest China province of Qinghai .

The monastery was founded by the 1st Minyag Trülku Lodrö Dargye ( mi nyag blo gros dar rgyas ; 1675-1753).

The 5th Minyag Rinpoche was appointed abbot of the Kumbum monastery in 1802 .

From the Kumbum Monastery, a Kanjur edition, the writings of Tsongkhapa and his disciples, and many Buddha statues and thankhas came into the possession of Minyag Dratshang. It flourished under the 6th Minyag Rinpoche Pelden Tenpe Nyima (1819–1901).

Minyag Chorten

Right next to the monastery was the famous old Minyag Chörten ( mi nyag mchod rten ), a building that is said to have been built at the time of the Tibetan kings in the 9th century and was built by the 5th Minyag Trülku Tshälthrim Tenpe Nyima ( mi nyag tshul khrims bstan pa'i nyi ma ; 1755–1817) was gilded. It was the most famous structure of its kind in Qinghai for a long time.

Modern times

The monastery was closed during the Cultural Revolution , its Chörten was also destroyed, the only remaining building was its large main assembly hall. In 1986 it was restored and reopened. His chorten was also restored.

The monastery has been on the Qinghai Province Monuments List since 1998 .
