Mirela Țugurlan
Mirela Țugurlan (born September 4, 1980 in Focşani ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .
She began gymnastics at the CSȘ Gimnastică Focșani at the age of seven. At twelve, Țugurlan was selected for the junior national team in Bucharest. In 1995 she became Junior European Champion on the balance beam.
In 1996 Țugurlan took part in the Olympic Games . In Atlanta, she won the bronze medal with the Romanian team behind the USA and Russia. In addition, she started in the individual all-around, in floor exercise, in horse jumping, on the balance beam and on the uneven bars, but could not reach a final.
In 1997 Mirela Țugurlan and the Romanian team with Simona Amânar , Claudia Presăcan , Alexandra Marinescu , Gina Gogean and Corina Ungureanu became world champion at the world championships in Lausanne.
After her retirement, she became a trainer.
