Mirjam Ballmer (born December 12, 1982 in Boston / USA ) is a Swiss politician ( GP ).

Political activity

Ballmer joined the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt in 2007 and has been a member of the Building and Spatial Planning Commission there since 2008. In 2007 she also ran for the National Council on the list of the young Green Alliance. This young party ran for election in a sub-list association of the Green Party . With 2%, this sub-list achieved a surprising success straight away, which led to the Greens winning one of the five Basel National Council mandates for the first time.

In 2008 she was re-elected in the constituency of Kleinbasel with the best result of the Green Alliance. At the end of March 2016, she resigned from the Grand Council for personal reasons and subsequently no longer offered herself as Co-President of the Green Basel-Stadt.

In 2018 she became a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Friborg .

Private life

Ballmer graduated from the Bäumlihof grammar school in 2001 and completed her studies in geography at the University of Basel with a licentiate in May 2008 .

In addition to her studies and her political activities, she is involved in the Swiss scouting movement .
