Miroslav Hroch

Miroslav Hroch (born June 14, 1932 in Prague ) is a Czech historian . He specialized in nation building in East Central Europe and has written many works on nationalism and national development. He works at the Charles University in Prague.

In 1996 he was elected an external member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences .

Hroch has been an agent of the Czechoslovak State Security since 1984, but his files were destroyed on December 8, 1989, shortly after the outbreak of the "Velvet Revolution".
