Ge began ice skating when he was almost four years old. He took up professional training at the age of ten. At that point, his parents moved with him to Beijing , where they worked as a coach. Ge also spent time in Hong Kong and Taiwan . In 2009 he moved to the USA . He is of Russian, Chinese, and English descent. Ge trained in Lake Arrowhead and Tashkent with his parents and Frank Carroll .
In 2011, Ge made his debut at four continents championships and world championships and finished twelfth and 30th respectively. In 2015 he achieved his best result at world championships with 6th place. At his last Grand Prix start in November 2017, he won his first Grand Prix medal of his career with bronze.
