Miss Deaf World 2018 Assia Uhanany, September 29th 2018, Vinohrady , Prague.

Miss & Mister Deaf World (MMDW) is an international beauty pageant that awards young deaf women to "Miss Deaf World" and young deaf men to "Mister Deaf World" every year, usually in Prague, Czech Republic .

history

MMDW is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2001. The pageant is organized by the companies MISS DEAF sro and MISS - MISTER DEAF sro, and their president is Josef Uhlíř. The official language of the competition is International Sign Language , and the lead glass crowns of all finalists are from Astera sro

Under the rules of the competition, a winner is not allowed to enter any other beauty pageant. On July 9, 2010 there was an MDW competition in Tbilisi , Georgia , and Julie Abbou from France contested. She won three titles of first runner-up Miss Deaf World 2010, second runner-up Miss Deaf World 2010, and Miss Sympathy Deaf World 2010. Abbou then took part in Miss Deaf International in Las Vegas , Nevada on July 31, 2010 and was named Miss Deaf Internationally crowned. Therefore, Uhlíř published an announcement on the MDW website to disqualify Abbou from the titles of First Vice Miss Deaf World 2010 and Miss Sympathy Deaf World 2010, which Abbou won during the closing ceremony of Miss Deaf World 2010 and Miss Deaf Europe 2010 in Tbilisi. Uhlíř said that during the MDW competitions, Abbou, like the other competing girls, was personally informed that the winner of one of the official MDW competitions would not be allowed to participate in other Miss competitions. Uhlíř explained the reason for maintaining the high status of the two competitions, maintaining the high prestige of the titles won and preventing a violation of the reputation of Miss Deaf World and Miss Deaf Europe. Uhlíř added that any girl could even take part in these competitions twice if she did not receive a title the first time she participated. He wrote that with effect from August 1, 2010, the title of first Vice Miss Deaf World 2010, which was taken over by Abbou, went to Zhihuang Wang from China , and the title of second Vice Miss Deaf World 2010 to Stella Falawo Kunjan Ghana , which originally took fourth place. The title of Miss Sympathy Deaf World 2010, which was also taken over by Uhlíř from Abbou, was won by Portia Oliver from South Africa , who originally took second place in this category.

On July 7, 2012, 20-year-old Karin Keuter from Germany won the Miss Deaf World 2012 in the congress hall of the Top Hotel in Prague.

In 2018, Assia Uhanany from Israel won the Miss Deaf World 2018. Xu Jinghui, a candidate from Taiwan , took a photo with her and wrote her impression of the competition. She told about the strange environment in Prague and wanted to get in touch with foreign deaf friends from different countries, hopefully to communicate with them. She wrote her daily activity: The second day was a day off and they visited nearby attractions. They started making deaf friends by using International Sign Language. Day three to day six was in class to practice the show together and share international sign language and deaf culture between different countries. The show started on September 29, 2018 and was a little sad and discouraged, but it was a rare experience for her. She was happy to make many foreign friends abroad and thanked the Chinese Association of the Deaf for giving her the chance to go abroad and also teach her international sign language.

On April 16, 2019 Uhlíř wrote sadly about the death of the engineer Vladimír Žíla, a general partner of the world competitions, Miss & Mister Deaf World and Europe and Asia, as well as the director of Astera Glass.
