Katrin Hahner aka Miss Kenichi (* 1977 ) is a German folk - pop singer. Her stage name comes from a Japanese anime called Robotic Angel . Their dreamy folk is also often referred to as Americana .

Life

She completed an acting degree at the Academy for Performing Arts in Ulm , which she continued four years later at the Stuttgart Art Academy in the field of art and painting. as the daughter of a truck driver.

The first contact with the music came about by chance: During a painting block, Katrin Hahner picked up a guitar that a friend had by chance left in the studio .

Miss Kenichi started performing in southern Germany. She was accompanied on double bass by Hendrik van Holtum, among others. In order to support the artist, he and his band colleagues from Kinderzimmer Productions founded their own label in order to release their debut album Collision Time in June 2006 .

Two years and a move to Berlin later followed their second album, Fox , via Strange Ways , which Miss Kenichi herself described as a logical continuation of the debut. It took Katrin Hahner 6 years to release the third album, The Trail , on the Berlin label Sinnbus .

In the end, it took several attempts and the help of Earl Harvin , the drummer of the band Tindersticks, to realize the vision . The entire album was recorded at Chez Cherie Studios . The artwork for it comes from herself.

The single Who Are You can be heard as the only song in the award-winning film Freier Fall .

The singles Under My Skirt , Death Cab and Black Bird are also part of the soundtrack of the film Because I'm More Beautiful .
