Miss You Much is a 1989 Janet Jackson song that was both written and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It appeared on the Rhythm Nation album in 1814 . The piece is an R&B song that fuses New Jack Swing with synth-pop elements .

Emergence

Jam and Lewis took their time writing the song and responded to improvements made by Jackson. Jackson later interfered in the process and you wrote the lyrics until Jackson liked it. Jackson didn't want to be labeled a one-hit wonder and unsuccessful. The track samples parts of Prince ' I Would Die 4 U from his album Purple Rain .

Dominic Sena directed the music video. The choreography is by Anthony Thomas and was part of the documentary Rhythm Nation 1814 film . The music video was shot in black and white . At the beginning of the video you see dancers in a casino talking about Jackson and their boyfriend. Then Jackson comes into the casino and all the dancers look at her. A dancer asks Jackson what she's up to. Finally he demonstrates against Jackson's love for her boyfriend and begins to dance with the other dancers. At the same time, Jackson and her boyfriend get closer and the love grows bigger. Later on, Jackson and her boyfriend also start dancing. Finally, a choreography is shown in which Jackson and the dancers use the chairs as aids and perform dance movements with them. The choreography is by Terry Bixler. After that, Jackson and her boyfriend leave the casino and the video ends.
