With Freud in Berlin
“With Freud in Berlin” is a series of memorial plaques in Berlin for psychoanalysts from Sigmund Freud's circle , initiated by the psychoanalyst Regine Lockot in 2004 . A sister of Freud and the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute are also remembered.
The 42 × 42 cm memorial plaques designed by Frank Herbst are made of glass (with the exception of the metal plaque for Ernst Simmel ) and are placed in the entrance area of houses in which the named psychoanalysts lived or worked according to the registered address. Based on the psychoanalytic magazine of the 1920s Imago , the Bernhard Modern font was chosen.
The food banks were financed through city tours "on the trail of psychoanalysis", which usually took place on the occasion of a congress. The passengers, together with other sponsors, made it possible for a new board to be unveiled on every city tour. A poster exhibition designed by Michael Viernickel was also created in connection with the unveiling of the table.
As soon as the boards are in place, interested parties can contact the office of the German Psychoanalytical Society to take on a sponsorship and thus responsibility for the maintenance of a particular board.
The project also includes the “ Gradiva ” stele , which was financed in cooperation with the German Psychoanalytic Society and the German Psychoanalytic Association and unveiled on the occasion of the 45th International Psychoanalytic Congress in 2007. It stands on the median of Kurfürstenstrasse 115/116.
Inspired by the project, memorial plaques for representatives of analytical psychology C.G. Guys realized. These include Gerhard Adler (Münchner Straße 23), Ernst Bernhard (Meierottostraße 7), Erich and Julie Neumann (Pariser Straße 4) and Sabina Spielrein (Thomasiusstraße 2).
