Erich Neumann (psychologist)
Erich Neumann (born January 23, 1905 in Berlin ; † November 5, 1960 in Tel-Aviv ) was a German - Israeli psychologist and psychoanalyst . He is considered the most important and, above all, the most independent student of CG Jung . Neumann managed to found his own school. He was supposed to inherit the technical legacy of his mentor Jung, but died a year before him.
Life
Erich Neumann studied philosophy , psychology and medicine . In 1927 he was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate and put 1933 in Berlin his first state examination in medicine from. In Heidelberg he belonged to Hannah Arendt's circle of friends . In 1933 he went to Switzerland, where he received training in depth psychology from CG Jung in 1933/34. In 1934 conditions in Germany forced him to emigrate to Palestine , where he had a private practice for psychotherapy in Tel Aviv.
Its origin history of consciousness (1949) was particularly popular . It is one of the books that are regarded as the basis of various depth psychological literature.
From 1948 until 1960, the year of his death, Neumann took part in the Eranos conferences with a total of fourteen lectures .
In 1928 Erich Neumann married the psychoanalyst and chirologist Julie Blumenfeld (1905–1985). The marriage has two children.
