Mitchell Wilson

Mitchell A. Wilson (born July 17, 1913 in New York City , † February 25, 1973 there ) was an American physicist and novelist.

Life

Mitchell studied at New York University and Columbia University , among others with Isidor Isaac Rabi . He worked as a physics lecturer and at times as an assistant to Enrico Fermi . At first only on the side, later full-time, he wrote detective novels, non-fiction books and novels about modern science. The related ethical questions and the role of the scientist in society were important themes in his novels. He also traveled to the Soviet Union and interviewed scientists there, which he processed in the novel Meeting at a Far Meridian . He was one of the few American authors whose books were popular in the Soviet Union.

Mitchell was first married to Helen Weinberg, with whom he had two daughters. His second wife was the actress and acting teacher Stella Adler .
