The middle mill is a monument in the municipality of Wennigsen . It is located at Feuerwehrplatz 12 in the center of Wennigsen. The mill is one of two preserved of the former seven Wennigs water mills. Just like the Upper Mill , it is an overshot mill .

The middle mill was fed by the Wennigser Mühlbach and the associated mill operating ditch, which is also under monument protection in the inner city. The mill was initially owned by the monastery , but was later sold. In Wennigs vernacular the building is also known as the Ostermeier mill , a former operator.

The Mittelmühle had a reservoir that is still there today in a small form. It served to regulate the irregular inflow from the Deister. In the 20th century, like in the other two overshot mills in Wennigs, an additional motor was installed. The water wheel is removed today. A poem by Karl Ostermeier is attached to the wall facing east:

The millstone calls out to you:
"Stay firm and tough like me - you too.
Will life rub you too
you should remain conscientious and faithful! "

The south wall is also decorated with a poem by the same author:

Mumbling turned at this point
once the mill's water wheel
The trout felt at home here
but water shortage sealed her grave.
Now the brook babbles sadly
complains about the past time.
I stand on the edge - pondering -
understand his suffering.
And how is the mill doing now?
are you once the human heart.
After a short flowering
the pain of death will come soon.

The building was later used as a bakery and is now a small retail store. It is privately owned.

Directly to the north is the old forge, another architectural monument belonging to the Wennigsen community.
