Medium fire truck
The medium fire fighting vehicle ( called the StLF 10/6 relay fire fighting vehicle from 2008 to 2012 ) is equipped with a group load in order to carry out the first attack in the first wave in the event of a fire or to provide technical assistance on a small to medium scale . Basically, the MLF should close the gap between the LF 10 and the portable pump vehicle with water (TSF-W) . The MLF is standardized in DIN 14530-25. Since 2018 the permissible total mass has been 9 tons. Previously, a maximum of 7.5 tons, with a certain additional load 8.5 tons, was allowed.
In Rhineland-Palatinate, a water supply of 1000 l is required for all medium-sized fire engines as part of the granting law. Such a vehicle type was already specified in the technical guideline in Rhineland-Palatinate before the introduction of DIN 14530-25. The technical guideline was withdrawn with the appearance of the DIN standard.

Relay fire truck 20/25
Based on the StLF 10/6, a guideline for a StLF 20/25 was issued in Hesse and serves as a successor to the TLF 16/25 . It has an extinguishing water supply of min. 2500 l. In addition, options from the StLF 10/6 such as foam or chainsaws became mandatory for the StLF 20/25. Adjustments were also made to the vehicle size, the vehicle weight was increased to 14,500 kg and all-wheel drive was made mandatory. The StLF 20/25 are not standardized according to DIN.
